KOTA KINABALU: Police have successfully solved two cases of break-ins at gas station and electrical shop following the arrest of a man in front of a gas station on Jalan Tugu, Kampung Air, here, yesterday.

The 28-year-old suspect, who works as a laborer, was apprehended at 330pm by police from the state headquarters crime investigation department.

Sabah CID chief Senior Assistant Commissioner Azmi Abd Rahim said they received a report that a gas station at Batu 1, Jalan Tuaran, here, was broken into by unknown individual recently.

He said the suspect fled with items from the premises including a safe box, mobile phones, cigarettes, and cash.

"As a result of the investigation, the D9 raiding team successfully identified and apprehended the suspect believed to be involved in the burglary.

"Initial questioning was conducted, and the suspect admitted involvement in the break-in at the gas station on Jalan Tuaran, here.

"The stolen items were sold to several individuals," he said when contacted today.

Azmi said several items and equipment believed to be used for burglary were also seized.

"Further investigation found that the suspect also admitted to being involved in the break-in at an electrical shop in Tenom.

"The raiding team then arrested and seized the items before taking the suspect to the police station for further action and investigation," he said.

He said the investigation is ongoing, and it is possible that the suspect is also involved in other crimes in the state.

"The case is being investigated under Section 457 of the Penal Code for burglary," he said.
