PENAMPANG: Police have arrested a Year Five pupil for allegedly raping his 12-year-old cousin at their house, here, last Sunday.
The boy was caught in the act by the girl's brother who was walking passed the bedroom.
District police chief Deputy Superintendent Mohd Haris Ibrahim said following this, the victim's mother lodged police report which led to the boy's arrest at noon on Monday.
"Initial investigations revealed the boy had admitted to having sex with the victim at least four times.
"The child had also said he was influenced by pornographic materials he saw on the smartphone," Haris told reporters.
He said police were still investigating when the sexual crime had started.
Mohd Haris said the boy has been remanded for seven days to assist investigations under Section 376 of Penal Code for rape.
“The case is being referred to the deputy public prosecutor, " he added.
