Alza driver detained for allegedly driving against traffic flow on Besraya

KUALA LUMPUR: A 27-year-old was arrested on suspicion of driving against the traffic flow at the Sungai Besi Highway (BESRAYA) in the direction of Pandan Indah.

Selangor Traffic Investigation and Enforcement Department chief Supt Azman Shariat said the woman who is from Cameron Highlands was detained at 8.45pm yesterday at the Ampang Jaya traffic police station.

"We arrested a woman after a video went viral in which a Perodua Alza could be seen being driven against traffic flow along the BESRAYA heading towards Pandan Indah," he said.

The woman admitted she was driving against traffic flow because she accidentally entered the wrong lane on her way home.

Azman said preliminary results on a urine test conducted came back negative.

She has since been released on police bail and investigation continues under Section 42 of the Road Transport Act 1987.
