Jilted 'janda' slashes ex-boyfriend's hand

KOTA KINABALU: Not happy being dumped, a janda (divorcee) slashed her ex-boyfriend's hand with a paper knife during an argument at a condominium here yesterday.

In the 9.30am incident, the woman in her 30s had gone to the man's home in Sembulan to discuss about their break-up. It however turned into a verbal argument.

During the quarrel, the woman suddenly took out a paper knife and slashed the victim's hand.

It is learnt that the woman befriended the victim at a nightclub before they established a love affair. The relationship, however, ended in August, which was believed to be the reason of the woman's dissatisfaction towards the victim.

When contacted, district police deputy chief Superintendent George Rakhman confirmed the incident and said the victim received eight stitches for his injury.

"We are investigating the case under Section 324 of the Penal Code for causing injury using weapon. If convicted, the offender can be sentenced to a maximum three years’ jail or fine or whipping or any two of the punishments," he said.
