TUMPAT: A man was shot twice by an unidentified gunman on a motorcycle at an eatery at Kampung Neting, Pengkalan Kubor here, on Friday.

The 24-year-old was hit in a thigh and an arm – but managed to run to a nearby house to shield himself from the gunman, who then fled the scene.

The assailant had fired three shots, but only the victim was hit, Bernama reported.

The incident occurred at about 3.15pm as the victim and his two friends were having a meal at the food outlet. Suddenly, a man on a motorcycle pulled up and opened fire, causing the outlet’s patrons to flee helter-skelter.

The gunman pursued the victim as he ran, but gave up and fled when his target took cover at a nearby house.

According to Kelantan Criminal Investigation Department head Assistant Commissioner Wan Khairuddin Wan Idris, the victim was rushed to the Tumpat Hospital, where he is in stable condition.
