Seven students remanded to assist rape probe

TAWAU: Police have detained seven Form Five students to facilitate investigation over an alleged rape case involving a 14-year-old girl at a school here yesterday.

It was learnt that the incident took place at about 11am. The victim was found half naked in a switchroom by a teacher and the teenager told her she was raped by two boys.

She said four others had forced her to perform oral sex, while another observed the act.

The teacher then informed the girl’s mother of the incident, and a police report was lodged at 3.30pm yesterday.

District police chief Assistant Commissioner Peter Umbuas confirmed the incident, saying the boys were detained the same day.

"Police have obtained a three-day remand order starting today against the suspects, to assist investigation," he said.
