KEMAMAN: A 2-year-old girl died after being stabbed by her uncle at Felda Cerul 2 here, today.
Nur Hafiya Aufa Mohd Taquddin – who lived with her grandparents, elder sibling and uncle – was at the family home when she was stabbed in the chest at about 1pm.
She was rushed to the Cheneh health clinic, where she was pronounced dead, Bernama reported.
It is understood that the uncle fled the scene, but was found and captured by neighbours at about 1.30pm and handed over to the police.
“The suspect’s urine test came back positive for methamphetamine.
“He also has a criminal record involving drug-related offences.
“We have not ruled out the possibility that the suspect was under the influence of drugs during the incident,” Kemaman police chief Superintendent Hanyan Ramlan said in a statement.
The case is being investigated under Section 302 of the Penal Code for murder.
