Drug-addicts behind air-con compressor theft arrested

KLUANG: Two drug addicts in their 20s with previous criminal records, were arrested for allegedly stealing a total of 10 air-conditioning compressors that have been repoir from a surau in Taman Titiwangsa, here, on Wednesday (Jan 10).

District police chief Assistant Commissioner Bahrin Mohd Nor, said the arrests were made between 11.30pm and 3.30am after the report was lodged on the theft by the surau community members at 1.30pm on Wednesday.

Police investigations revealed that suspects in custody were responsible for 10 reported cases of air-conditioning compressors-theft in the district.

"With the arrests, we have solved 10 cases of compressor-theft," Bahrin said.

The first suspect was picked up at Taman Intan, here, at 11.30pm. He had 13 previous criminal records, and three drug-related offences.

He was tested positive for morphine.

His accomplice who tested positive for meth, was arrested at Taman Kluang Barat, here. He had a previous criminal record.

Also seized from the suspects were the stolen compressor, copper-pipes, break-in tools, a motorcycle and their clothing which is believed to be what was worn by them during the theft.

Bahrin said the suspects were remanded for four days to facilitate investigations

under Section 451 of the Penal Code, for theft.
