TASEK GELUGOR: A senior citizen was detained by police on suspicion of committing incest and rape of his own daughter and a stepdaughter for nearly three years.
The 65-year-old man allegedly carried out the act at their home in Tasek Gelugor with his 16-year-old stepdaughter and his own 10-year-old daughter who is also partially blind with learning disabilities.
The mother was said to have known about the incident when she was told by a teacher that her younger daughter's character had changed over the years, prompting the teacher to enquire if the father had troubles with the girl.
She then suspected that something might have happened as the 47-year-old mother also noticed that her daughter prefers to stay alone in her room and at times speaking to herself.
Her daughter then allegedly opened up that the suspect has been raping them for a few years whenever the mother was not around.
He also threatened both of them not to tell their mother.
She then lodged a police report yesterday.
Seberang Prai Utara district police chief Assistant Commissioner Noorzainy Mohd Noor confirmed receiving the report and said that the man has been detained.
"He has been remanded for seven days and the case is being investigated under Section 376B of the Penal Code for incest."
