GERIK: Police have arrested seven men including six siblings for allegedly raping an 11-year-old girl at a house in Kampung Pahat Luar here, yesterday.
District police chief Superintendent Zulkipli Mahmood said that police received a report of the gang rape incident on Monday at 9.26pm.
He said that based on initial investigation, a 36-year-old woman who is also the mother of the victim was told by her husband that their 11-year-old daughter had been raped.
"The gang rape incident was also witnessed by their nine-year-old son. Further investigation showed that on Nov 3 at about 2pm, the boy saw seven friends of his elder brother aged between 13 and 31 years taking turns raping his sister in a room at his neighbour's house.
"Six of the suspects are siblings and another man is their friend. The boy said the same incident had happened to his sister several times before and the victim had never gone to school," he said in a statement today.
Zulkipli said that following the report lodged, police arrested all the men including the 13-year-old teenager yesterday at 1.51am.
"Urine tests on them came back negative and they have been remanded for a week until Nov 27 to facilitate investigation," he added.
The case is being investigated under Section 375B of the Penal Code for gang rape which carries a prison sentence of not less than 10 years and not more than 30 years upon conviction.
