8 Penang businesses, 8 patrons fined for RMCO violations

GEORGE TOWN: Eight patrons of several business premises here were issued RM1,000 compounds each for violating standard operating procedures (SOPs) of the Recovery Movement Control Order (RMCO), today.

The eight were fined for not observing social distancing, said Northeast district police chief Assistant Commissioner Soffian Santong.

"We also issued compounds for eight premises in the district.

"Among the offences were not screening visitors' temperatures and not recording their details," he said in a statement, today.

Twenty teams comprising 109 personnel, including the police and staff of the Penang Island City Council (MBPP), raided 129 premises in the district to check on SOP compliance today.
