Four drunk men arrested near Slim River toll plaza

IPOH: Four men, believed to be drunk, were nabbed near the Slim River Toll Plaza early today.

Perak Criminal Investigations Department chief Senior Assistant Commissioner Anuar Othman said police received a report from members of the public about a group of men who were causing a ruckus by the roadside at 3.30am.

"A patrol unit was dispatched to the scene. The police men told the men to disperse but two of them ran amok and shoved the policemen while uttering profanities.

"During the incident, one of the men also started to record a video with the intention to tarnish the police's image," Anuar said in a statement.

Anuar said all of them were arrested and further checks revealed they have drug-related criminal records.

"They have been remanded for three days until Oct 18 to facilitate investigations."

The case is being investigated under Section 186 of the Penal Code for voluntarily obstructing a civil servant in the discharge of his public functions, which carries a maximum two years in jail or fined up to RM10,000 or both.
