MELAKA: A 7-year-old boy died in Taman Krubong Jaya here, yesterday, from suspected abuse by his mother and stepfather.
The child was allegedly drowned in a water tub in his house at around 4pm.
Preliminary investigations revealed injuries on the victim's body.
The parents, aged 32 and 38, have been detained.
"At about 4pm yesterday, the Melaka Tengah District Contingent Police Headquarters (IPD) Operations Room received a call from a man informing them that his son had drowned at his house in Taman Krubong Jaya.
"Checks at the scene found the 7-year-old male victim had bruises and injuries on several parts of his body," Melaka IPD Criminal Investigation Department chief Assistant Commissioner Mohd Sukri Kaman said when contacted here, today.
He said the body was taken to the Melaka Hospital's Forensic Department for a post-mortem and the case is being investigated under Section 302 of the Penal Code for murder. - BERNAMA
