Perak police arrest four MRSM students for bullying

IPOH: Police arrested four boarding school students in Kuala Kangsar for allegedly bullying another student today.

Perak police chief Datuk Mior Faridalathrash Wahid said that the students, all aged 13, were arrested after giving their statements at the Kuala Kangsar police headquarters between 6pm and 7pm.

"We have arrested four students this evening for further investigation," he said when contacted today.

Earlier, Mior Faridalathrash said the case was being investigated under Section 147 of the Penal Code for rioting and Section 233 of the Communications and Multimedia Act 1998 for improper use of network facilities or network service.

He said all eight students including the victim in the incident have been identified and the police have called them up to have their statements taken.

He said police also called up a social media account user for disseminating the video.

"Initial investigations revealed that the incident occurred yesterday between 1am and 2pm, involving seven students and the victim.

"A police report has been lodged by the school's principal today following the video which has garnered a lot of attention," he added.

In the viral video clip, a group of students were seen taking turns to punch and kick another student in a school dormitory.

Several video clips lasting between 13 seconds and 30 seconds were uploaded on a Facebook account showing the student being ordered to stand up before he was kicked in the back and punched several times in the stomach by several other students.

It was reported earlier that the incident took place at the Sultan Azlan Shah Mara Junior Science College (MRSM).
