Police investigating breach of SOP at celebrity's wedding

BENTONG: Investigations are underway to track down individuals who failed to comply with Covid-19 standard operating procedures (SOP) when attending the wedding of a celebrity couple in Genting Highlands near here on Dec 15.

The 41-second-video clip which was taken during the wedding showed a majority of guests were without face masks and mingling close to each other.

Bentong police chief Superintendent Zaiham Mohd Kahar said the department received a report on the incident at about 10.30pm yesterday.

"A video of the famous celebrity couple's wedding ceremony held at a villa in Genting Highlands was uploaded onto Facebook. Investigations revealed the event was held at about 8.30pm on Dec 15.

"Some guests present at the event were not wearing face masks and did not practise social distancing. Police are in the midst of identifying and tracking down the individuals who were present at the wedding," he said in a statement today.

He said the offenders had breached Phase Four of the National Recovery Plan and were being investigated under Rule 17 of the Prevention and Control of Infectious Diseases (Measures Within Local Area of Infection) Regulations 2021.

It is learnt that some 200 people including top celebrities in the country had attended the wedding.
