Man arrested for allegedly beating wife to death on Raya eve

KAJANG: Angered by his wife's social media posting revealing his transgression, a 38-year-old man allegedly murdered her a day before Hari Raya.

District police chief Assistant Commissioner Mohd Zaid Hassan said the victim was believed to have been beaten to death by the husband using his legs, hands and a blunt object.

He said police were made aware of the incident when they received a report from Kajang Hospital at 9.16am on Sunday about an unconscious 28-year-old woman who was brought in by her husband.

He said an external examination of the victim found bruises on several of her limbs.

"The results of the post-mortem examination conducted at 11am found that the cause of death was an abdominal injury due to a strong blow from a blunt object.

"The incident happened a day before Aidilfitri at a flat in the administrative area of Balai Batu 9, Cheras," he said in a statement today.

Zaid said police arrested the husband on the same day and the case is being investigated under Section 302 of the Penal Code for murder.

"The motive for the murder was that the suspect was angry with the victim because she had uploaded on social media that the suspect had an affair.

"The case has been referred to the Selangor deputy public prosecutor's office which has agreed to charge the suspect under Section 302 of the Penal Code. He will be charged in the Kajang Magistrate's Court this Monday," he said.
