'Wana Love Wan' may provide a clue to an unidentified dead man

SUNGAI PETANI: Police are hopeful of uncovering the identity of a man whose body was found floating in Sungai Semeling here on Friday, based on a ring worn by the victim.

Kuala Muda police chief Assistant Commissioner Zaidy Che Hassan said the ring, engraved with 'Wana Love Wan' wordings, was found on the victim when the body was discovered.

"The victim, in his 30s or 40s, has a height of 163cm and weighed 52kg.

"He was wearing a short-sleeve shirt with 'T M Up' wordings," Zaidy told reporters at his office today.

He said police have cross checked the victim with missing person reports in the state but did not come across any that matched the victim's description.

He urged those with information on the case to contact the district police's senior investigation officer at 019-4186118 or 04-4299222.

The body was found by two men who were fishing in the river about 9.30am Friday.

The victim's hands and legs were bound while his head was covered by a gunny sack.

An autopsy report revealed that the victim had injuries to his head and face.
