Ipoh double murder suspect remanded for a week [NSTTV]

IPOH: A suspect detained in connection with a double murder involving a couple here at Taman Bercham Aman has been remanded for a week.

The 61-year-old suspect who is also the younger brother of the male victim has been remanded from today until July 14 for further investigation.

The remand was issued by Magistrate Jesseca Daimis at the Ipoh Magistrate Court today.

The suspect was remanded to assist investigations under Section 302 of the Penal Code for murder.

The suspect wearing a T-shirt arrived at the court compound about 8.50am under tight police security.

It was reported that Ng Chun Hon, 64, and his wife Ooi Tin Lu, 59, were found dead in their home in Taman Bercham Aman, here, yesterday morning.

Police had immediately launched a manhunt Chun Hon's younger brother, Ng Chun Ming, 61.

Ipoh district police chief Assistant Commissioner Yahaya Hassan said police were alerted to the incident when Chun Hon's older brother came to the Bercham police station at 8.50am to inform that his brother and sister-in-law were found in the house covered in blood.

Both victims were close to each other in the living room, with the male victim lying face down on the floor and the woman leaning against a wall. They were pronounced dead at the scene.

Initial investigation points to the couple being hit in their heads by a sharp weapon and a blunt object. They sustained severe head wounds.

Chun Hon worked as a mechanic while Tin Lu was a housewife.

The Proton Saga belonging to Tin Lu had also gone missing.

Chun Hon's 90-year-old mother, who was ill and wheelchair-bound, and living with him and his wife, was at home during the incident.
