Traditional medicine practitioner charged with murder

KUALA LUMPUR: A traditional medicine practitioner, 51, was today charged with killing one of her patients.

Che Hong Chiew only uttered "understand" when the charge was read to her before magistrate Amalina Basirah Md Top.

She was accused of killing Lim Sin Lue, 41, between 4.45pm and 5pm on July 27, at a house in Pandan Perdana, Ampang, here.

The accused was charged with murder under Section 302 of the Penal Code, which provides for the mandatory death sentence upon conviction.

No plea was recorded from her before the court fixed Oct 13 for re-mention.

Deputy public prosecutor Annur Athirah Amran prosecuted, while the accused was not represented.

Ampang Jaya district police chief Assistant Commissioner Mohamad Farouk Eshak was quoted as saying that a woman had claimed that her daughter died at 6.35pm on July 27.

He said the victim was found unconscious in the living room of a traditional medicine practitioner's house.

He said the victim was believed to have gone to the house to get traditional medical treatment.
