Police act against foreigners for disturbing public peace in Prai

SEBERANG PRAI: Police have taken preliminary action by conducting periodic patrols at Taman Nagasari Prai here after video footage of a group of foreigners disturbing public peace in the residential area had gone viral.

Seberang Prai Tengah district police chief Assistant Commissioner Tan Cheng San said about 12.45 pm yesterday, a 44-second video uploaded by the TikTok account "norfapxr3o1" showed a group of foreigners disturbing public peace in a residential area, suspected to be in the Seberang Prai Tengah district.

The video obtained 13,000 likes with 654 comments.

He said a preliminary investigation found that the incident was believed to have taken place at Taman Nagasari Prai.

However, he said the date and time could not be ascertained because no police report or related information had been obtained.

"Since the issue went viral on social media, police have taken preliminary action by carrying periodic patrols by the police mobile patrol vehicle (MPV) as well as police from the Prai station in the area.

"We are planning and will take further action to deal with the problems of foreigners," he said.

As such, Tan said the police called for public cooperation to provide them with the necessary information.

The issue of foreigners disturbing public peace in Taman Nagasari Prai is not new.

Locals in the residential area have often lamented how the foreigners' antics had riled them up.
