Police cripple MDMA drug operation, seize drugs worth RM6.38mil

KUALA LUMPUR: Police have successfully busted a methylenedioxy-methamphetamine (MDMA) drug operation worth RM6.38 million with a raid in Seri Kembangan last Friday.

Serdang district police chief Assistant Commissioner A. A. Anbalagan said the drug weighing 70,719 was found in three boxes containing 47 plastic packets, as well as in 16 transparent plastic packets weighing 52,330 grams and in a transparent plastic packet weighing 504 grams.

The suspect, who is a 44-year-old unemployed man from Subang, had learned the drug making process through YouTube videos.

He is believed to be the runner of the operation.

"Three plastic packets containing 18 plastic bottles of drug powder weighing 301.87 grams were also found during the raid.

"Three small plastic packets containing 21 ecstasy pills weighing 7.41 grams were confiscated along with a transparent plastic packet containing teared dried leaves believed to be cannabis weighing 13.8 grams.

Three cake-making machines and related equipment were also discovered in the drug operation.

"It is believed the drugs will be able to support the drug use of 410,000 users in the Klang Valley," he said.

The police have also seized a Toyota Hilux and a Nissan NV 200 van under the Dangerous Drugs Act (forfeiture of property) 1988, which is estimated to be worth RM170,000 along with cash amounting to RM10,000.

A urine test on the suspect was negative.

The suspect, who has a record of past offences convicted under section 15 (1) (a), will be remanded for seven days under section 39B of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952.
