Body floating in lake suspected to be a murder victim

PUTRAJAYA: Police have classified the discovery of a floating male body in a lake behind the Haji Fisabilillah Mosque, Cyberjaya, yesterday as murder.

Sepang District Police Chief (IPD), Assistant Commissioner Wan Kamarul Azran Wan Yusoff, said police received a report at 10.15pm from an individual who reported seeing a body floating in the lake.

He said the IPD Sepang Criminal Investigation Department together with the forensic team went to the scene and found the body of a man in the lake.

Wan Kamarul said firemen from the Cyberjaya Fire and Rescue Station were called to retrieve the body from the lake.

"A check around the five-acre open land surrounding area found a black Hilux plunged into the lake," he said.

He said the witness who went to check the vehicle, found an object resembling a fully clothed human body floating in the lake some three metres away.

Wan Kamarul said the unfenced lake area, can be entered freely and is a favourite spot for anglers.

He said the case is being investigated under Section 302 of the Penal Code for murder.
