Teacher and Thai man arrested on possession of Yaba pills

KOTA BARU: A teacher and a Thai man were nabbed by the police for possession of methamphetamine pills worth more than RM330,000 recently.

Kelantan police chief Datuk Muhamad Zaki Harun said the two were arrested in two separate operations in Tumpat on Nov 11.

In the first operation at about 3pm, he said police detained the 29-year-old Thai national and seized 30,000 pills from him near a house in Kampung Kuala Jambu.

"Police seized the pills from the man's bag, and it was worth about RM330,000," he said in a statement.

Zaki said the 54-year-old teacher was detained at Chabang Empat, Tumpat, at about 5pm on Nov 11.

"Police seized two pills from him. The teacher tested positive for drugs.

"The teacher and the foreigner have been remanded for further action," he said.

Zaki also said 630 people were arrested in a series of anti-drug operations carried out statewide between Nov 6 and yesterday.

"They were detained for various offences under the Drug Dangerous Act.

"The 630 comprised 623 men and seven women, all aged between 14 to 59," he added.

In the operation, Zaki said various drugs worth about RM470,000 were also seized, including heroin, cannabis and syabu.
