CHUKAI: The actions of a man exposing himself to a medical officer in a surau (prayer room) led to his arrest yesterday.
Kemaman District Police Chief, Superintendent Hanyan Ramlan, stated that the 20-year-old suspect, employed as a cleaner, allegedly committed the act last Wednesday.
According to him, prior to the incident, the victim was reportedly resting in the surau at the hospital.
"The suspect is said to have suddenly appeared before engaging in indecent behavior by exposing himself.
"The medical officer reported the incident to the Chukai police station yesterday.
"Following the report, police subsequently tracked down the suspect and successfully apprehended him on the same day," he said.
Hanyan said that the suspect was brought to court today to obtain a remand order.
Magistrate Amirda Shasha Amir Sharifuddin allowed the suspect to be remanded for four days for investigation under Section 377D of the Penal Code.
