Man offering RM5 mil bounty to kill PM released

KUALA LUMPUR: The individual who was detained for making criminal threats against Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has been released on police bail today.

The 34-year-old man, previously arrested in Padang Tembak, Kota Baru, Kelantan last Tuesday, was granted police bail after the completion of investigations.

Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Razarudin Husain stated that they are also finalising the investigation papers related to the case before submitting them to the Attorney-General's office on Dec 4.

"The man has been granted police bail as the investigation against him has been completed.

"At this time, the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) is finalising the investigation papers before referring them to the Attorney-General's office," he told Berita Harian today.

Yesterday, Bukit Aman announced that an individual with the TikTok account @jaiadani89 was suspected of sending criminal threat messages to the Prime Minister.

He was detained for three days starting from yesterday until today to complete investigations under Section 507 of the Penal Code and Section 233 of the Communications and Multimedia Act 1998.

The account owner was previously believed to have uploaded a video offering RM5 million to anyone who would shoot dead the Prime Minister, ministers, and members of a political party. Based on searches, the video in question has already been deleted.
