PKR Youth lodges police report on RM5mil bounty threat against Anwar on TikTok

PUTRAJAYA: The PKR Youth wing has lodged a police report regarding death threats against Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim made by a social media user on the TikTok platform.

The party's deputy Youth chief, Muhammad Kamil Abdul Munim, said the report was filed at the Putrajaya Police Headquarters at 1.43pm.

"Earlier, the wing representative went to the Putrajaya District Police Headquarters to file a police report regarding a TikTok video where the user 'jaiadani89' issued threats against the prime minister, offering a reward of RM5 million to anyone who can assassinate the prime minister.

"There were many threatening comments that not only jeopardised the safety of the prime minister but also touched on sensitive issues related to race and religion," he said.

However, the video has since been removed.

Without pointing fingers, Kamil said that such a threat stems from hate politics that were being widely endorsed by certain quarters.

"Recently, we have frequently witnessed comments and statements that pose threats not only to the Prime Minister's security but also touch on the sensitivities of race and religion.

"If we do not swiftly rise and take immediate action, there is a concern that it will lead to a radical and extremist situation, thereby creating unfavourable conditions for the country and its multicultural society," he added.
