Police dispose of seized items worth RM1.24mil, majority from Subang Jaya gambling operators

SUBANG JAYA: The police have disposed of seized items worth RM1.24 million, the most of which came from Subang Jaya gambling operatives.

Subang Jaya district police chief Wan Azlan Wan Mamat said the seized properties came from a total of 179 investigation papers, of which 160 of them were classified under seized gambling items.

"The disposal of these items followed the methods and regulations under the Inspector General of Police's (Tan Sri Razarudin Husain) directive (PTKPN D207) and the provisions of the law under sections 406A and 407A of the Criminal Procedure Code involving the disposal of various crime-related items.

"This disposal action involved (179) investigation files from the Crime Investigation Division, successfully resolved through prosecutorial actions resulting in the conviction of offenders," he said at the district's headquarters here today.

He also said that these items received disposal instructions from the prosecution and were approved by the court, including Ops Dadu (gambling) items totaling 1,078 sets of computers/laptops/mobile phones with a total seizure value of RM744,600.00 and cash of RM27,807.00.

Wan Azlan said that another operation was Ops Kontraban (untaxed cigarettes/alcoholic beverages), which resulted in the confiscation of 1,479 bottles of alcohol and 1,863 packs of various cigarette brands worth RM418,000.00.

He also said that the last operation was from Ops Elektrik (bitcoin) items involving 113 bitcoin machines with a total seizure value of RM51,000.00.

"The estimated total value of the disposal items is approximately RM1,241,407.00.

"All items will be disposed of through the E-WASTE method and the sale of scrap metal and solid waste," he added.

He also advised the public to avoid getting involved in criminal activities related to contraband, gambling, and illegal bitcoin mining, which is a legal offence in the country.
