113 motorcycles seized in Ops Samseng Jalanan in Penang

SEBERANG JAYA: Police seized 113 motorcycles in Ops Samseng Jalanan conducted along the north-south highway near Taman Sama Gagah here early this morning.

Seberang Prai Tengah district police chief Assistant Commissioner Tan Cheng San said 334 summonses were issued for various offences in the four-hour operation which began at midnight.

"At midnight, the Bukit Aman, state and district Traffic Investigation and Enforcement Departments as well as Plus carried out the Ops Samseng Jalanan to check on mat rempit activities that endanger road users and disturb public order.

"As a result, 113 motorcycles were seized and 334 summonses issued for various offences.

"Among the offences include no valid licence, no insurance coverage, registration plate which did not follow specification, no side mirror and illegal modification," he said today.

Tan said police would not compromise with anyone involved in immoral activities.

"This operation will be ongoing to stop such immoral activities.

"We urge those with information to come forward and furnish us with information so that we can act accordingly," he added.
