Three arrested by police positive for drugs, not connected to Zayn Rayyan's murder

PETALING JAYA: Three individuals arrested by the police at Idaman Apartments, Damansara Damai had no links to the investigation involving the murder of an autistic child, Zayn Rayyan Abdul Matin.

Selangor Police Chief Datuk Hussein Omar Khan said the arrest, however, was made after they were found to be positive for drugs during a mass deoxyribonucleic acid (DNA) test was carried out on Dec 10 among residents of the area.

"It just so happened that when we did the mass DNA screening, they were positive for drugs, so we held them to do a urine test for further action," he said.

Hussein added the results related to the DNA test on a large number of residents are expected to be obtained within two to three days.

The test was carried out as part of the 'mass screening' carried out involving the residents here to track down the killer of the child.

A total of 228 individuals had been taken for DNA tests involving the inspection of home units and business premises here.

The police continued their search for new evidence and clues in the murder of Zayn Rayyan Abdul Matiin at Idaman Apartments, Damansara Damai with their full focus being on Block R, which is also the block where the 6-year-old and his family lived.

As investigations enter the seventh day, police forensics unit vehicles were again seen entering the vicinity of Bock R at about 9.30am today.
