KFA mulls lawsuits over RM6 million graft claims

ALOR STAR: The Kedah Football Association (KFA) is mulling to take legal action against those who alleged that KFA and its officials were involved in soliciting and receiving RM6 million in bribes.

Kedah menteri besar Datuk Seri Muhammad Sanusi Md Nor, who is also KFA president, said that KFA will reveal everything related to the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) probe into the allegations of graft and corruption.

He said that an official statement will be issued over the matter detailing Kedah Darul Aman Football Club's (KDA FC) privatisation and project applications from companies that were unapproved for not meeting requirements.

"KFA will issue an official statement in response to the allegations and MACC investigations which have been purposely made viral to achieve the political objective of certain quarters in smearing the reputation of KFA and Kedah state government leaders.

"Documents related to KDA FC privatisation, RM5 million loan application, RM1.3 million repayment, applications for projects by related parties that were not approved for not being qualified, audited statement documents to prove KFA financial management transparency and other related matters will also be revealed," he said in a three paragraph statement uploaded on his Facebook page.

"Those parties who are going all out to create an impression that there was a RM6 million corruption in KFA and trying to link the alleged corruption case with certain individuals especially the president and KFA officials – wait for the coming lawsuit," he said.

On Wednesday, Sanusi spent over three hours giving his statement at the MACC headquarters in Putrajaya in connection with the ongoing probe.

However, MACC Investigation Division senior director Datuk Seri Hishamuddin Hashim was reported as saying that he was unable to reveal the details of the investigation since it contained information deemed confidential and sensitive.
