CID director: Police 'triangulating' evidence in Zayn Rayyan case

SHAH ALAM: Police are in the midst of piecing together the evidence and findings obtained in the course of investigations into the murder of 6-year-old autistic boy Zayn Rayyan Abdul Matiin.

Federal Criminal Investigation Department director Datuk Seri Mohd Shuhaily Mohd Zain said any possible arrest will be made based on the findings of the triangulation process, taking into consideration pre- and post-analysis and evidence.

"We will not stop police investigating the boy's case until the perpertraror is caught and brought to justice.

"As the IGP (inspector-general of police) clearly said yesterday, we are collecting all the necessary information, we will triangulate what we have gotten previously, and what we are going to discover after the triangulation process before we go further.

"So far, we have exhaused all forensic related measures but if there is a need to pursue further forensics tests, as a result of the triangulation findings, we will," he said.

Shuhaily also thanked the public for their input and perspectives shared on the case.

"We also evaluated and gave some thought to public perspective that we thought was worth looking into," he told reporters at the Selangor police headquarters.

On Dec 5, Zayn Rayyan was reported missing from his unit at Apartment Idaman in Damansara Damai.

He was found dead near a stream, about 200m from his block the next day. A post-mortem examination revealed that the child had been strangled.

Yesterday, Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Razarudin Hussain had revealed that the investigation into the case was 90 per cent complete, involving various angles including scientific, forensic and conventional.

He had also said that all the witnesses who had previously given evidence may be called back, including members of Zayn Rayyan's family to complete the investigation.
