Attorney-General's Chambers to get probe papers on DAP's Pua next week, says IGP

PETALING JAYA: The final report on the investigation into DAP's Tony Pua will be submitted to the Attorney-General's Chambers (A-GC) next week, said the inspector-general of police.

"We are still investigating the Tony Pua case. We summoned him to Bukit Aman (on Monday) for questioning.

"Give me at least seven days to complete the investigation dossier. We will submit it to the A-GC," Tan Sri Razarudin Hussain told a press conference today.

The former DAP national publicity secretary gave a statement to the police at the Bukit Aman police headquarters on Monday in connection with his Facebook postings.

Razarudin had confirmed on Sunday that Pua would be summoned for questioning over his remarks on the Pardons Board's decision to reduce Datuk Seri Najib Razak's prison sentence and fine.

One of Pua's messages on Facebook read: "I beg your pardon?"

Umno Supreme Council member Datuk Lokman Adam had urged the Home Ministry and police to take action against Pua under the Sedition Act for allegedly disrespecting the board, which was chaired by the then Yang di-Pertuan Agong.

Lokman said Pua's statements insulted the former king.

The board had reduced Najib's prison sentence from 12 years to six and the fine from RM210 million to RM50 million.

The former prime minister was sentenced to jail after being found guilty of abuse of power, breach of trust and money laundering involving RM42 million from SRC International, a former subsidiary of 1Malaysia Development Bhd.
