Man suspected of torching police car remanded for four days

PETALING JAYA: A p-hailing driver who set fire to an auxiliary police car at the Mutiara Damansara MRT station here on Thursday has been remanded for four days.

Petaling Jaya police chief Assistant Commissioner Mohd Fakhrudin Abdul Hamid said the remand order was issued by the Petaling Jaya Magistrate Court.

"The suspect has been remanded since yesterday (Friday) until the Feb 19

"The investigation is being carried out under Sections 435 and 427 of the Penal Code," he said when contacted by Harian Metro.

It was reported that the 25-year-old suspect was believed to be chasing after hits and views on his TikTok account.

Fakhrudin was reported as saying that the suspect was picked up at a flat in Flora Damansara on Thursday.

He added that checks revealed that the suspect has no prior record but a urine test conducted on the suspect returned positive for morphine.
