Cops nab 4 more linked to Israeli man

KUALA LUMPUR: Four individuals were arrested yesterday believed to be linked to the Israeli man who was detained with six firearms at a hotel on March 27.

Inspector-General of Police, Tan Sri Razarudin Husain, said that all suspects, aged between 28 and 41 years old, were apprehended in Johor.

"We have made arrests of four more individuals related to the case involving the Israeli suspect.

"The suspects, consisting of three men and one woman, were successfully detained in the vicinity of Skudai and Gelang Patah," he said when contacted today.

Razarudin said further investigations were ongoing to identify the roles of these four individuals in the case.

"These latest arrests bring the total number of individuals detained to seven," he said.

Meanwhile, regarding the remand of a local married couple, Razarudin said they would apply to extend the remand order once it expires tomorrow.

The couple, who were detained at a Ramadan bazaar in Kuala Selangor on March 29, are suspected of obtaining pistols from a neighboring country before selling them to the main suspect using cryptocurrency as payment.

"So far, the couple will be remanded until tomorrow for investigation together with the main suspect under Section 7 of the Firearms Act," he said.

Earlier, it was reported that the Israeli man was detained at a hotel on Jalan Ampang on March 27 with six firearms and 200 bullets.

He is believed to have entered the country using a French passport on March 12, and the police also detained a man in Cameron Highlands, Pahang, believed to be his driver.
