Cops tracking locals, foreigners linked to Israeli man

KUALA LUMPUR: Police are hunting several local and foreign nationals linked to an Israeli man who was arrested last week with six guns and 200 bullets.

Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Razarudin Husain, however did not specify the number of suspects on the police radar.

"We are looking for more than two people, and they consist of locals and foreigners," he said, adding that those being tracked by the police are being investigated for the possession of firearms.

Razarudin, however said the identities of those who are being tracked cannot be revealed fearing that it would jeopardise the operations and investigation.

The police had earlier arrested a married couple, both Malaysian, suspected of supplying firearms to the Israeli national.

Razaruddin also the investigation into the motives of the Israeli man is still ongoing, saying that they will take into account every aspect.

"Our investigations are still ongoing, especially the motives to own the six guns. Our initial investigation was under Section 12 of the Passport Act.

"However, after discovering the weapons, the investigation was brought under Section 7 of the Arms Act.

"As such, our investigations are currently based on the witness statements under Section 7 of the Arms Act, where around 23 witnesses have been called in comprising of policemen and members of the public."

He added that currently, there are two investigation papers initiated each for the Israeli man and the married couple.

Police had arrested the Israeli man at a hotel in Ampang on March 27.

During his arrest, police found six guns and 200 bullets in his possession.
