Police get 3 Proton X70s to boost monitoring on 4 Klang Valley highways

KUALA LUMPUR: Amanat Lebuhraya Rakyat (ALR) contributed three Proton X70 vehicles to police to boost traffic monitoring on its four highways in the Klang Valley.

The vehicles will help the Expressway Mobile Police Vehicle (EMPV) Unit, under the supervision of the Traffic Investigation and Enforcement Department, conduct patrols.

The vehicles were handed over to Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Razarudin Husain by ALR group chief executive officer Sazally Saidi at the federal police headquarters.

Sazally, in a statement, said the EMPV Unit managed about one million vehicles in tolled traffic and 3.5 million vehicles in non-tolled traffic in the Sprint, Lebuhraya Damansara-Puchong and Kesas highways.

The figures don't include those for the Smart Tunnel.

He said the close ties between the ALR and police were crucial to ensure the safety and comfort of motorists.

"The contribution of the patrol vehicles is in line with the group's support for police road safety initiatives, and in recognition of the long-standing partnership between the two parties.

"Between 1996 and 2024, 40 vehicles worth RM3.12 million were contributed by the ALR to the police."

ALR is a private, special purpose, not-for-profit entity set up to hasten the shortening of the toll concessions and the return of the four highways to the government.
