6 cops, including senior officers nabbed under Sosma over RM1.25 mil extortion case [NSTTV]

KUALA LUMPUR: Six policemen, including senior officers, have been arrested under the Security Offences (Special Measures) Act 2012 (Sosma) in connection to a RM1.25 million extortion case.

Of the six, five were previously arrested. They were rearrested along with another inspector who surrendered himself last night.

Inspector-General of Police, Tan Sri Razarudin Husain said the six cops would be remanded for 28 days until June 5.

The police's probe into the case found that the group worked together to commit crimes, an offence under Section 130U of the Penal Code.

That section pertains to an "organised criminal group".

"The inspector was detained under Section 4(1) of Sosma," Razarudin said when contacted by Harian Metro.

It was previously reported that five cops including two officers were arrested in connection with the extortion case.
