KUALA LUMPUR: The armed forces spent RM48.22 million on medical needs for soldiers up to November this year, according to Defence Minister Datuk Seri Hishammuddin Hussein.
The armed forces had also spent RM1.46 million on providing medical equipment for those in need, he said.
“In an effort to assist kidney patients among the armed forces personnel and veterans, the armed forces have provided a total of 39 dialysis machines at dialysis centres throughout the country,” he said during the question and answer session in Dewan Negara.
Hishammuddin was responding to a question from Senator Datuk Mustapa Kamal Mohd Yusoff who had asked the ministry about healthcare assistance given to soldiers and their family.
Hishammuddin added that through Jiwa Murni programme, the armed forces provide free health services to rural areas communities, especially to armed forces veterans.
