One of the initiative’s aims is also to reduce dependency on low-skilled foreign workers, said Finance Minister Lim Guan Eng when tabling the budget in Parliament, today.
He elaborated that Malaysians@Work is divided into four programmes which are targeted at employers and employees.
They are Graduates@Work, Women@Work, Apprentices@Work and Locals@Work.
The Malaysians@Work initiative is expected to create more than 350,000 job opportunities for Malaysians in five years’ time; while reducing the number of jobs held by foreign workers by 130,000.
