KUALA LUMPUR: Datuk Seri Hishammuddin Hussein has been appointed Minister with Special Functions in the Prime Minister's Department, effective today.

Hishammuddin will still retain his Defence Minister portfolio.

The Prime Minister's Department has seen a number of Ministers with Special Functions in the past, including Tan Sri Ghazali Shafie (1970 - 1972), Tan Sri Mohd Asri Muda (1973 - 1976) and Tan Sri Tengku Ahmad Rithauddeen Ismail, also from 1973 to 1976.
