Two suspects in assault, abduction of Puchong man detained

KUALA LUMPUR: Police arrested two men yesterday as part of investigations into the assault and botched abduction of a 21-year-old man in Taman Kinrara, Puchong, last Friday.

Assistant Commissioner Megat Mohammad Aminudin Megat Alias said a team from the Selangor contingent Special Investigation Division acted on a tip-off and nabbed the two men, aged 23 and 24, at a restaurant at Jalan SS3, Petaling Jaya.

He said the duo will be remanded under Section 117 of the Penal Code for abetment at the Petaling Jaya Court.

Police are tracking down remaining suspects who are still at large.

Two days after the assault and failed abduction, authorities managed to track down and arrest a lorry driver, 27, believed to have been the driver of a Proton Waja into which the victim was bundled.

Police said the motive for the attack is still being ascertained, but initial checks show that it was based on a misunderstanding over a woman.

On Friday, a group of 10 men in two cars – a Proton Waja and a Perodua Myvi – arrived at the victim’s house at about 3am.

The victim was beaten up by the group before being forced into one of the cars and driven off.

However, the victim managed to escape three hours later, near Sungai Way in Petaling Jaya, when the group brought him out of the car to rough him up.
