Foreign worker decapitated in gruesome Penang construction site accident

BAYAN LEPAS: A Myanmar worker was decapitated in a mishap while on duty at an Indah Water Consortium construction site at Kampung Jawa, near Bayan Baru, here today.

In the 12.15pm incident, the 26-year-old worker was in the process of connecting a wire cable to a crane when he became entangled by it.

Unaware of the situation, the crane driver moved the vehicle, causing the cable to go taught across the victim’s neck, severing his head from his body.

"From our investigation, there was no sign of foul play," said Southwest District Police Chief Superintendent A Anbalagan in a statement released today.

The body was sent to hospital for a post mortem, and the case has been classified as “sudden death.”
