Bashah pledges support for Kedah youth associations

JITRA: The Kedah government is committed to support youth associations in the state, Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Ahmad Bashah Md Hanipah said today.

He said this was because the state government acknowledges the crucial role played by the groups in nurturing future leaders of the country.

He also promised continued assistance in the form of incentives and grants to assist the associations in organising their activities.

"Each year the state allocates RM2,000 to 182 youth associations which are active in organising activities for the development of youths," Bashah said in his speech at the state-level National Youth Day organised at Darulaman Lake Park here today.

Present was Kedah Youth and Sports Department director Mohd Nazri Yaacob.

Bashah also urged associations to be creative and innovative in organising activities that will appeal to the young people.

Bashah said the National Transformation Programme 2050 (TN50) is the best platform for youths to share their views in developing the state.

As such, he praised young Kedahans for taking part in the TN50 dialogue sessions held in the state.

"TN50 dialogue held during Jelajah Muafakat Kedah had attracted some 500 youths in each district." he said.
