Motorcyclists and pillion rider killed in a hit-and-run

KUALA LUMPUR: A motorcyclists and his pillion rider were killed after they were thrown-off their machine and dragged 25 metres in a hit-and-run incident at Jalan Duta here today.

City police Traffic Enforcement and Investigation Department Legal Affairs officer Deputy Superintendent Shafie Daud said initial investigation revealed that motorcyclist, N. Kalai Arasan, 30 coming from the left lane had grazed a car in the 5pm incident.

The pillion rider was identified as 19-year-old M. Jeevah.

“The motorcyclist and the pillion rider were thrown off the motorcycle and dragged for some 25 metres.

“Both victims sustained severe head injuries and were pronounced dead on the scene,” he said, adding the car driver fled the scene of the accident.

Their bodies had been taken to the Kuala Lumpur Hospital for post-mortem.

Police, said Shafie, would obtain closed-circuit television (CCTV) camera footages from the scene and track down the car involved in the incident.
