Gov't to allocate RM600,000 for upgrading of Masjid Kariah Paroi Jaya: Zahid

SEREMBAN: Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi has agreed to allocate RM600,000 to upgrade Masjid Kariah Paroi Jaya.

Speaking after performing terawih prayer here tonight, Zahid said, besides improving the mosque’s facilities, the fund should also be used to expand religious programmes at the mosque.

“More religious classes and programmes should be conducted to enliven the mosque and attract more people to it. A mosque should be more than meets the eye.

“I hope the fund will help the mosque’s management carry out such programmes,” he said.

Zahid said the availability of more religious programmes is in line with the government’s wishes to produce 125,000 professional ‘huffaz’ (scholars who memorise the Quran) in the next 30 years.

“I hope these huffaz will one day lead the country, not only in the professional sectors but even as ministers or even the future Prime Minister,” he said.

Earlier Zahid attended a breaking of fast event held at Masjid Hussain Seremban 2 before performing Isya and terawih prayers with about 1,000 Muslims at Masjid Kariah Paroi Jaya near Pinggiran Golf.

The terawih prayer was also joined by Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Mohamad Hasan.

Zahid then spent time mingling with the crowd for a ‘moreh’ (meal) session held at the mosque.
