Practice live-long learning, deepen knowledge of Islam: DPM

KUANTAN: Muslims should hold to the practice of live-long learning to deepen their knowledge of Islam.

Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi said that one is never too young nor too old to learn. One can easily start by just reading the Al-Quran.

He said that the learning process also includes them asking questions from those learned in Islam such as the ulamas.

“Our age does not matter. One should not be embarrassed to open and read the al-Quran and to ask questions (from ulama),” he said.

He added that ulamas deserve the utmost respect.

Zahid, who is also Home Ministry, was speaking before a 1,200-strong crowd at the ‘Penerapan Nilai Murni’ (Inculcating Good Virtues) programme at Tengku Ampuan Afzan Mosque in Indera Mahkota, here today.

Among those also present were Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Adnan Yaakob, Rural and Regional Development Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob, Deputy Human Resources Minister Datuk Ismail Abdul Muttalib, and Home Ministry secretary-general Datuk Seri Alwi Ibrahim.

Pahang is the fifth state in Zahid’s visit under the programme after Terengganu, Negri Sembilan, Selangor, and Kedah.

He is later expected to join a congregation at the Al-Muttaqin Mosque inTanah Putih Baru to perform terawih prayers and partake in moreh feast.

Zahid will also take part in the Jom Sahur Bersama TV3 programme at Bentong Prison Complex, Bentong at 2.15am tomorrow.
