Jempol crash: Offers for help, donations pour in for 3-year-old Alif Taqif

KUALA PILAH: Since news of the accident which left 3-year-old Muhammad Alif Taqif Osman seriously injured and orphaned broke, his aunt and her husband have been receiving calls from individuals touched by his plight.

These unidentified people had offered financial aid to help the child lead as normal a life as possible after the tragic loss of his parents.

However, his 28-year-old aunt, Norzeha Othman, said she and her husband had yet to decide whether or not to accept these offers as their priority was to help Alif Taqif recover.

“We are sincere in our decision to care for Alif Taqif. He has always been close to us since the day he was born. When we decided to bring him into our family, we had no intentions to ask for contributions or donations.

“This is a sensitive matter and we don’t want it to stir up any misunderstandings and problems. We will sit down and consider the views and opinions of family members from both sides.”

Alif Taqif was warded at Tuanku Ampuan Najihah Hospital here after he survived a four-vehicle crash that killed his parents, Osman Mohamed Taip, 31, and Rosniza Othman, 32, at Km25 Jalan Bahau-Keratong on Sunday.

The crash also saw the deaths of six members of a family — Wan Mohd Fauzi Wan Ibrahim, 51; his wife, Mas Noraida M. Yusoff, 45, and their four children — Wan Muhamad Iskandar, 22, Wan Nor Atirah, 18, Wan Mohamad Amar Haziq, 13, and Wan Nor Alisha, 7.

Alif Taqif, who is now under the care of Norzeha and her husband, Mohd Syafiq Mohd Said, 28, was discharged yesterday. The couple brought him back to their house in Endau, Johor.

“The doctor confirmed he was fit to be discharged and can continue treatment at home.

“We are planning to bring him to Sultan Ismail Hospital in Johor Baru for follow-up treatment.

“My nephew had an X-ray of his head yesterday. He is a strong boy and I believe he will get better soon,” she said before they left for Johor.
