5 of 14 men missing in Ulu Segama Forest Reserve found safe

KINABATANGAN: Five out of 14 men who went missing in Ulu Segama Forest Reserve here last week were found safe and sound at 10.15am this morning.

District police chief Superintendent A. Sahak Rahmat said they are the original five villagers from Kampung Paris 1 who disappeared on Wednesday.

“They were found at the Balat plantation, about 80 kilometres from our search and rescue (SAR) operational control post,” he said when contacted.

“The SAR team was alerted to the discovery (by) the plantation workers,” he said, adding that they have not had the chance to interview the five on what happened, but efforts are being made to bring them home.

Sahak said the SAR continues for the group of nine villagers who went in search of the five since Friday and are still missing.
