Facebook user 'Catt Ginger' arrested for insulting Yang di-Pertuan Agong

KUALA LUMPUR: Police have arrested a 41-year old woman who had allegedly insulted Yang di-Pertuan Agong Sultan Muhammad V via a Facebook posting.

City deputy police chief Datuk Mazlan Lazim said the woman, who works as a farm manager in Sabah, was arrested in Kepong yesterday.

Police have also seized a mobile phone as well as computer equipment from her.

The woman, whose Facebook username is Catt Ginger, had posted an offensive edited picture of Sultan Muhammad V along with the Hari Raya wish on June 25.

It had irked netizens who urged police to take action against the user.

Yesterday, at least 15 police reports were lodged against her in Perak.

Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Khalid Abu Bakar, via his tweet handle KBAB51, had congratulated police on the arrest.
