Melaka police hunt for man seen threatening motorist with stun baton in viral video

MELAKA: Police are currently on the lookout for a man who threatened a fellow road user with a stun baton in a road rage video that has gone viral on social media.

The incident was purported to have occurred along Alor Gajah-Melaka Tengah-Jasin (AMJ) expressway near Cheng on Monday night.

The video shows, a man wearing a baseball hat engaging in heated obscenity laden argument with a motorist, and went on to whip out an electric stun baton.

His actions were recorded in a 25-second video clip, which was then uploaded on Facebook by username Kenny Lau, as a warning to other motorist.

"No matter how slow he is, do not try to pass him, because he has an electric baton," the post read, which has since garnered 13,700 shares.

Melaka Tengah police chief Assistant Commissioner Afzanizar Ahmad confirmed the incident, saying that the victim, a mechanic, aged 21, had lodged a report at the Tanjung Minyak police station last night.

"The stun baton is illegal in the country and we will try to identify the man in the video.

"Investigations are ongoing and we have classified the case under Section 506 of the Penal Code (for criminal intimidation) and Section 6 of the Corrosive and Explosive Substances and Offensive Weapons Act 1958 (for carrying offensive weapons in public weapons)," he said.
